Historic-Cultural Monument Designation
PLAQUE LOCATION: Tesla Pocket Park
As the Silver Lake Reservoirs Conservancy marks its 30th year of service this year, it recently acknowledged one of its first acts of advocacy for the reservoir community, namely securing recognition of the reservoirs as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument.
SLRC worked with then city council member Michael Woo to obtain that designation, which came through in 1989. To draw better focus on this historic status, SLRC recently installed a granite boulder in the Tesla Pocket Park and mounted the city plaque on it.
